Taking time off his Presidential visit to Vietnam, US President Barack Obama spent some time living a local experience in Hanoi with the best man he could find, Anthony Bourdain. The duo got together to discuss Vietnamese culture and cuisine in an upcoming episode of season eight of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown to be aired in September this year. On the table were bun cha - a traditional beef and noodle dish, and Vietnamese beer.
The dinner lasted long enough for a substantial crowd to gather outside to meet the President. Both, the President as well as the famous food television host Anthony Bourdain, enjoyed the meal after which Obama met the staff at the eatery before stepping out to greet the waiting crowd.
The bun-cha dinner cost the television host $6. Since the President was the guest, Bourdain picked up the cheque!
Total cost of bun Cha dinner with the President: $6.00 . I picked up the check . #Hanoi
