Desperate Pak Threatens India To Rake Up Maoism, Northeast Unrust, To Counter Balochistan Barb

With India raising the issue of human rights violations in Balochistan at the UN, and openly coming out in support of the Baloch people, Pakistan's special envoy on Kashmir, Mushahid Husain Syed has warned that if India continued to do so, Pakistan would respond by "talking of Khalistan, Nagaland, Tripura, Assam, Sikkim or the Maoist insurgency. "We do not want to do that because that is interference in the internal affairs of a neighboring country. You are changing the rules of the game. It becomes tit for tat," he said. First, Syed 'threatened' that his country could move closer to Russia and China if Washington fails to intervene in Kashmir.

Later, he linked another issue which the US has considerable interest, but is no way directly related to Kashmir - the Afghan peace process to the conflict.

"Road to peace in Kabul lies in Kashmir in the sense that when you talk of peace, you cannot compartmentalise peace, you can't segregate a section... ok you can have peace in Kabul and let Kashmir burn. That is not going to happen."

He said this during an interaction at Washington-based think-tank Stimson Centre.

Syed who is a part of Pakistan's international mission to highlight the 'human rights violations by India in Kashmir' has been holding a number of conferences with think tanks in the US.

However they have been cornered and countered by rights groups and separatists from Gilgit, PoK, Sindh and Balochistan.

Pakistan has for decades, while claiming to champion the Kashmiri cause in the international fora, successfully kept the eye of the international media and world bodies away from the extra-judicial killings and human rights violation in its largest province, Balochistan.
