To ensure that Indian railways is able grow, while also remaining financially healthy and passenger-friendly several recommendations have been made in 2015-16 rail budget. It has come with far greater expectations – with its prime focus on making train journeys more convenient and less time consuming. Here are 10 noteworthy highlights of this year’s rail budget you need to know:

7. 17,000 existing toilets will be replaced with bio-toilets. Other than this, 650 new toilets to be created, that will last 120 years.



8. Middle bay of coaches to now be allotted to women and senior citizens for safety reasons

9. Surveillance cameras on main station areas and women compartments.



10. Water vending machines will be introduced at most of the railway stations for passengers to access clean drinking water at very low cost.
