5 Absurd Factors The indian subcontinent Can To guard Women In public areas.

Hyderabad’s State Road Transport Corporation is putting sliding doors between the general and women's section in its city buses. We’re literally resorting to a primitive purdah concept. And instead of addressing the real reason for this (read, some men can’t keep their hands off women), we’re separating them with a wall of plastic. The government loves this line of thinking, and uses it wherever possible. Here’re some examples from your everyday life.

5. A women's compartment in the Delhi metro.

Why it's ridiculous: If you’ve ever travelled by the Delhi metro, you probably aren’t a stranger to witnessing the hostile glances that women sometimes get when getting into a crowded general compartment. In 2011, citizen petition Please Mend the Gap even reported that, “There have been many instances where men have told women that they are not welcome in (the general) compartment and should use the compartment reserved for them.” The dedicated women’s compartment doesn’t address the creepy male gaze, it literally just creates distance between men and women on the metro.
