India has always been prepossessing in terms of what it produces. Apart from the spellbinding culture and natural beauties filled with awe, India has meritorious Indians who gave birth to notable discoveries and inventions in the past. Sadly, these contrivances have been trapped with controversies as to who coined them. Amid the evolution we have these mind blowing inventions and discoveries that were made by Indians, but went through a lot of challenges to get the name of its mastermind sorted.

3. Test Tube Baby

On 25th July, 1978, the first test-tube baby was born in England through a method devised by Robert G. Edwards. No one can deny that, but the sad truth is that 3 months after this ground-breaking event, the 2nd test-tube baby was born in Calcutta under the guidance of Subhash Mukhopadhyay, using a method different from – and, in the opinion of some, superior to – that used by the English team.

Sadly, the government didn’t support his work & findings and went on to doubt his findings. He was called fraud and later humiliated by those who weren’t qualified to evaluate his work. Subhash Mukhopadhyay committed suicide on 19th June 1981. He always claimed that, had he received the support rather than the opposition of India’s scientific establishment, he could have beaten the British team to the first IVF birth.

4. Pythagorean theorem

Apart from the other innumerable contributions that were made by Baudhayana , rendering the Pythagorean theorem and estimating the value of pi to some extent were the most significant ones. The Sutras written by him were noteworthy and truly instructive throughout the course.
