WHY THE WORLDS BEST AIRPORT SHOULD BE ON YOUR BUCKET LIST

Swanky shopping, gourmet dining, state-of-the-art entertainment, themed gardens galore and even something for the kids - all that you hope for in a destination but not what you would expect from an airport. Then again, Singapore Changi Airport is no ordinary airport. Since its runways opened in 1981, it has been at the top of the game. With over 500 awards to its name, it is the most awarded airport in the world. In 2015 alone, Changi Airport has garnered 26 accolades to date including the most prestigious for the airport industry, Skytrax's World's Best Airport. This is the third year running and the sixth time it has secured that title. Changi Airport is more than a gateway to adventure, it is an adventure in itself.

Chic Shopping

The shoppers' paradise that is Singapore begins at Changi Airport boasting more than 350 retail and services outlets. Pick up cosmetics and perfumes at The Shilla Duty Free, and wines and spirits at DFS, both of which feature duplex spaces, a first in an airport worldwide.

There's even an e-portal, iShopChangi, which lets you shop online for a wide range of products while enjoying tax and duty savings. Take your pick with a click and collect your buys from the airport before you leave. With the airport's annual shop and win contest, 'Be a Changi Millionaire', you may even win a million Singapore dollars when you shop online.

Stimulating Art

Art aficionados be ready to be wowed by the world’s largest kinetic sculpture, Kinetic Rain. Comprising two sections with 1,216 polished copper raindrops, the moving sculpture is the centerpiece of the Terminal 1 departure hall. Enjoy the hypnotic hold of this massive art installation as the droplets dance in precisely choreographed movements to form 16 different shapes such as a hot air balloon, an airplane, a kite and even a dragon - all objects of flight.

On the digital front, The Social Tree at the transit area of Terminal 1 is the airport's largest interactive installation. The nearly nine-meter-tall structure has eight touch-screen photo booths that allow you to upload photos and videos onto the 64 giant high-definition screens that form its 360-degree crown. Check out your photo against various animated backgrounds that include a mystical forest and the Singapore skyline. Photos taken here can also be shared on Facebook or emailed.
