After maintenance workers found a Taj Mahal minaret's pinnacle lying on a cleaning platform around the Taj Mahal on Monday, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) officials said it was removed due to the structure becoming weak. According to them, monkeys were the reason

“The pinnacle did not fall down and is lying at the platform laid around for chemical cleaning. It would be repaired and pinnacle placed by tomorrow (Tuesday),” Bhuvan Vikram Singh, superintendent, ASI, told Hindustan Times.

Minaret cleaning operations are in full form as monument’s is expecting a visit from the royal couple, the Duke and duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton on April 16.
