Indian Hockey Team Thrashes Malaysia 6-1 Enters Final Of Sultan Azlan Shah Cup After 8 Years

Indian hockey team made the nation proud once again by cruising into the final of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. The five-time champion side came up with scintillating display of field hockey to beat Malaysia 6-1 in the final league match at Ipoh. India, who haven't been able to assert their presence so far except in the tournament except the 5-1 victory over arch-rivals Pakistan, needed to pull off a win against Malaysia to ensure their place in the final match against Australia and that they did in some style, leaving the home supporters heartbroken. The 6-1 result meant India, with four wins from 6 games, entered the summit clash after 8 long years. Thanks to a brace from Ramandeep Singh and a goal each from Nikkin Thimmiah, Harjeet Singh, Danish Mujtaba and Talwinder Singh, India kept the dominance over Malaysia and never allowed them a wiff of a chance to come back. New Zealand, who were at number two spot in the standings before the game needed this match to end in a draw as a win for either of India or Malaysia would've knocked them out. The Sardar-Singh led side, on the other hand, were playing only for a win and nothing less.
