When you think about railway stations, the first words that come to your mind are crowded platforms, disarray, sweat and constant announcements about the train timings. Live music can now be added to the above list when speaking of the Madgao railway station in Goa. The passengers waiting for their trains can stop immersing their heads into their phones and enjoy live music performances by the Konkan railway employees.

Passengers were in for a surprise last Saturday and Sunday while waiting for the Madgao-Mumbai-Konkan Kanya Express leaving at 6 PM when the band called ‘Aarohi’ performed live for them.

The band comprises of all Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd; right from station master to pointsman.

‘Aarohi’ has already performed at other major KRCL events, like their Foundation Day and are expected to play more often.

Siddeshwar Telugu, chief spokesperson of KR said, “Madgaon station is an important station in Goa, having a footfall of almost 10000 passengers per day. Domestic as well as International tourist visit Goa round the year. It is a good opportunity for the music bands/troupes for showcasing their skills at the station”.

KRCL Public Relations Manager Baban Ghatge said, “They played instrumental music for the passengers who were waiting for the departure of Konkan Kanya Express”.
