Rajasthan Textbooks Are Not Done With Removing Nehru Yet Now His Tryst With Destiny Speech Goes Missing

The controversy over Rajasthan Education Department's move to remove references to India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru from its textbooks only seem to be growing. The latest to be axed from the textbooks is the 'Tryst with Destiny' Nehru's iconic speech on the eve of independence in 1947. The speech has gone missing from the revised textbook for Class IX Social Science, The Time of India reported.

May Be His Speech Was Replaced By This Letter From A Cow

This is in contrast with the claims made by Rajasthan education minister Vasudev Devnani. He had said that the portions with references to Nehru was only revised and not completely omitted.

Another chapter on Nehru, where he speaks about 'Bharat Mata' has also been removed from the revised Class XI Hindi literature textbook.

Earlier it had emerged the references to Nehru in class VII textbook were removed which invoked sharp criticism from the Congress. The party accused the ruling BJP in the state of pushing an RSS agenda in education.
