As Vijay Mallya's escape from the country, despite being a defaulter with a CBI look out notice against him, has triggered off a heated debate in the parliament, an incident in Tamil Nadu shows the double standards of dealing with defaulters. While the government is facing flak for not arresting Mallya earlier, the SC also pulled up banks for granting loans to a defaulter. While Mallya owes close to a billion dollars to banks, a farmer owing Rs 1.3 lakh for a tractor was brutally beaten up by the police for failing to pay installments on his loan.
