India Vijay Mallya Says He Didnt Splurge On The CPL Team Bought The Barbados Tridents Franchise For Just $100

Remember how Kingfisher scion and troubled businessman Vijay Mallya was hounded repeatedly by media and detractors with the query that how can he buy a cricket franchise in the Caribbean Premier T20 League (CPL) if he was really broke? With over Rs 9000 crores owed to Indian banks, Vijay also had his latest proposal for debt repayment rejected by the Indian banks consortium. And the news that he bought a CPL franchise was definitely taken with a pinch of salt by many; including Punjab National bank who declared him a defaulter the very same day! He was then also forced to step down as chairman of United Spirits and subsequently also lost control over IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore. Mallya left India last month amidst attempts by creditors back home to recover the debt owed by the long grounded Kingfisher Airlines. But now Mallya has come out with yet another explanation which says how he paid only $100 (Rs 6660) to buy Barbados Tridents franchise!
