Sri Lanka

The festivities in Sri Lanka are marked by the illumination, making of toys of enamel and figures out of sugar crystals popularly known as Misiri, The sugar crystals normally take the place of sweets.
The celebrations are not as fiery as in India but a huge family meal is compulsory as a part of the festivities.
