No wonder, Kejriwal’s resignation from his CM-Delhi position battered the nation’s faith in him. His decision to squander the opportunity people gave him in the last Delhi elections left people with questioning the party’s capabilities and distrusting his capability. But in his (Kejriwal’s) interview (Source) with ReadersDigest tells a different and bright side of the story – a story that talks about how strong he is as an individual.
After getting the Magsaysay Award in 2006, Kejriwal donated the prize money, about $50,000 to set up the Foundation (Public Cause Research Foundation). The foundation was established to research, analyse, and disseminate information about various aspects of governance systematically. Over the years the foundation analyzed thousands of orders passed by all the information commissioners.
Kejriwal believes that the biggest challenge in Indian society is its empowerment. Because people easily give up on things related to society – how would you ask them to join in the various struggles? And his will to become the next leader of New Delhi proves the point well. “We thought corruption was a problem and corruption is to be solved but now we feel that corruption is actually the symptom. The real disease is in the lack of complete political empowerment of the people. People are politically disempowered. They have absolutely no say.†he believes.
