Enforcement Directorate To Look Into IPL Money Angle In Sunanda Pushkar Murder Case

Delhi Police has written to the enforcement directorate to probe financial/IPL angle in the Sunanda Pushkar case. Earlier, Delhi's economic offences wing (EOW) was investigating this aspect. The EOW was probing the shareholding pattern of the now-defunct IPL team Kochi Tuskers.

Cops said they will probe if Sunanda was used as a front for someone else and if it had any connection with the differences the erupted between the couple. Both Tharoor and Sunanda had earlier denied that the latter was not a proxy for the former minister. Lalit Modi had accused Tharoor of asking him not to reveal the ownership details, a charge denied by the ex-minister.

The police want to ascertain whether she was killed, if at all, due to IPL related issues, something which has come out in almost everyone's questioning. Earlier, journalist Nalini Singh had talked about Sunanda telling her hours before her death that "she had 'taken over' crime during IPL". Another family friend and politician Amar Singh has also spoken about the IPL connection.
