Meet Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan - The Boy From Kashmir Who Came Second In The UPSC Exams

Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan is a very happy boy. The 23-year-old scored second rank in his second attempt at the prestigious civil services examinations. Delhi's Tina Dabi topped the IAS exams 2015 by securing first position. An elated Athar said, "I had appeared last year but my ranking was down and, therefore, I was offered Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS). I joined but IAS was my first love and I planned to do both - join the training and appear again." Athar is currently undergoing training for IRTS in Lucknow.

Just as with any other Civil Services aspirant, Athar's focused dedication coupled with his voracious reading helped him realise his dream. He also made it to IIT but didn't opt for it as he wanted to study BE instead of B.Tech.

Athar's father is a proud man today. Expressing his happiness over his son's success, he said, "I am a proud father today. The best moment in a father's life is when he is known by his children and today my son has given me this happiness."
