Dayko, 4, was a rescue dog who worked relentlessly to find survivors after the Ecuador earthquake. The brave dog helped save seven lives by sniffing out survivors with his team, that otherwise wouldn't have succeeded in the task.
The white labrador - who was a part of the fire service in Pedernales, the north-west Ecuadorian province of Manabi - however succumbed to exhaustion after continuously working in the relief operations.
A combination of heat, dehydration, and the immense effort that he put into the rescue mission tragically took its toll on the hero doggy, who passed away on Friday.
