Showman Subash Ghai created history in 1989 when he made Ram-Lakhan. From an amazing sibling revelry between Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor, to a rocking plot of the film, he made an ideal masala film which went on to become a superhit. So much so, that even today, one cannot stop but groove to on Dhina Dhin Dha! (My Name Is Lakhan). In fact, this one song became the identity of Anil Kapoor! Remember how Ranveer, Priyanka and Anil Kapoor did the exact same step in Dil Dhadakne Do’s song? 27 years later, a remake of the classic film is about to be made and fans can’t help but speculate about the casting of the film. After all, who will recreate Jackie and Anil’s magic?

To take over Lakhan AKA Anil Kapoor’s role, the names that were doing rounds were of Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. While the front runners for Ram AKA Jackie Shroff’s role were Ranbir Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan and Sidharth Malhotra.

According to a well-placed source in the production team of the film, the makers might have locked Shahid and Ranveer to essay the roles of Ram and Lakhan respectively!

"Out of all the names being tossed for Lakhan's part, Ranveer was the first choice. Also, last year Anil Kapoor, who played Lakhan, had said that Ranveer was perfect for the role. As for Ram's character, it was decided that Shahid would be an ideal pick. The actors, however, have not signed on the dotted line," revealed the source.

"The makers are looking for fresh faces to essay Madhuri Dixit and Dimple Kapadia's characters and the project is likely to go on floors by the end of the year. Once everything is finalised, an official announcement will be made,” the source further added.

Well, if this turns out to be true it will be one hell of a film! Come to think of it, Ranveer and Shahid together in one frame! *too much hotness*
