London is soon going to have its first nudist restaurant. Yes, you read that right. The restaurant will have an Indian name – Bunyadi - and will be opening in June with entry only on first-come-first-serve basis. In fact, its waiting list already has over 13,000 names!

The restaurant has non-nude sections as well

For those who don’t like the idea of a nude restaurant, don’t you worry!

There will be two sections, a ‘pure’ or naked zone, and a clothed section, that will be separated by bamboo partitions. Those customers who wish to be seated in the nude section will be given changing rooms, lockers and gowns.

The idea of a nude restaurant

Seb lyal, who came up with the concept says, 'Bunyadi is meant to create a dining experience of true liberation. We believe people should get the chance to enjoy and experience a night out without any impurities: no chemicals, no artificial colours, no electricity, no gas, no phone and even no clothes if patrons wish.'

‘We have worked very hard to design a space where everything patrons interact with is bare and naked. The use of natural bamboo partitions and candlelight has enabled to us to make the restaurant discreet, whilst adhering to the ethos behind it. No doubt, this has been the most challenging project for us yet, which makes us very excited about it.’

The experience

The food will be made on a wood flame grill, and clients will use edible cutlery to eat it. Special interest is being taken to make the cutlery edible to avoid burns and painful spills. No phones will be allowed in the restaurant either!

What's in a name - an Indian one at that?

Bunyadi, meaning ‘Natural’ or ‘basic’ in Hindi, was decided by lyall.
