After Dharmendra, Rohit Sharma is the second big celebrity to co-own a team in Pro Wrestling League. New Delhi: Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma was today named as the co-owner of the Pro Wrestling League team UP Warriors. After Bollywood superstar of yesteryears Dharmendra, the India’s ODI opener is the second big celebrity to co-own a team in the much-hyped league. Speaking about the association, Rohit said, “India has had a long and proud history with Wrestling. I am proud to come on board as one of the Co-Owners of the UP Warriors team at the Pro Wrestling League. Our team has the best line-up of wrestlers including India’s most celebrated wrestler Sushil Kumar. We look forward to making it to the top of the league for the first season of the PWL. Commenting on this move, Vishal Gurnani, Director ProSportify said,”Rohit Sharma is one of the appreciated cricketers in India today. We excitedly welcome him on board as one of the co-owners for the team UP Warriors . We look forward for a fruitful & long lasting association with Rohit.” Earlier, it was announced that Mumbai, who topped Group B Ranji Trophy league without the services of India stars Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma for the major portion, would be without the duo once again for the first two Group A games of the Hazare Trophy One-Day tournament to be held in Hyderabad from December 10-18. The Mumbai squad, announced on December7, 2015 will be led by Ranji captain and wicket-keeper Aditya Tare. It includes senior player Abhishek Nayar who has recovered from the palm injury that forced him to miss the last few Ranji games, according to Mumbai Cricket Association’s joint secretary, Dr Unmesh Khanvilkar. Asked the reason for the duo of Rahane and Rohit being left out of the squad, Khanvilkar said as per his information they were not available to play in the first two games though the fourth and final Test against South Africa was set to end today in Delhi. “They are not available for the first two games and this team has been selected for the first two games,” said Khanvilkar while adding, “Rohit is also getting married [when the first two games are to be held]”
