The inaugural Indian Super League (ISL) starts on the 12th of October and the excitement is growing every day. Could the ISL turn India into a respectable soccer nation with a fighting chance to qualify for the next world cup? Maybe not! At least not in the short term but one thing is certain the ISL will enable young Indian players to engage with superstars such as Del Piero and Pires and that can be a huge boost to Indian football. Here's a list of global superstars who will be in India for the tournament

1. David James (England)- Marquee Manager and player, Kerala Blasters

In May this year the 44-year-old David James was declared bankrupt. But the former England goalkeeper claims he has not joined the Indian Super League (ISL) for money. James has aspirations to become a top manager and sees ISL as the launching pad.

2. Alessandro Del Piero (Italy)-Marquee Player, Delhi Dynamos

Del Piero has an illustrious career spanning two decades where he won every single tournament that was there to be won. Can the 39-year-old Italian forward weave his magic in India?
