Arms Recovered From Terrorists Killed In Kashmir Encounters Nail Pakistan

Seven Pakistani terrorists have been killed during infiltration attempts at two places, since late Wednesday night in north Kashmir, defence spokesman Col Manish Kumar said. According to Col Kumar, the Army also recovered guns and unused ammunition with Pakistani markings from the encounter sites.

While four terrorists were killed in Nowgam along the LoC, three were eliminated in Langate after they tried to cross over from Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, the spokesman said. The terrorists were in combat gear armed with AK-47 assault rifles and large quantities of ammunition besides drugs.

The Pakistani army provided covering fire on both the occasions, the official said. The infiltration bids come barely a day after national security adviser Ajit Doval briefed the Cabinet Committee on Security that the Pakistani army has mobilised around 100 terrorists across the LoC to push them into India to carry out attacks in J&K.

The official said a combing operation was on amid apprehension about presence of more terrorists in the area. Technical surveillance was being maintained, besides using illuminators to prevent the infiltrators, who could be present, from escaping in the darkness.
