Robots Sent Into Japans Fukushima Reactor To Find Radioactive Fuel Have Died Of Radiation

The artificial intelligence sent into the Fukushima Nuclear Reactor to assess nuclear damage and locate nuclear fuel have "died", according to reports from Reuters.

According to Naohiro Masuda, TEPCO's head of decommissioning, developing a single function robot can take up to two years.

As of now, TEPCO is building a subterranean ice wall which will serve to prevent groundwater from flowing into the basements of the damaged reactors and getting contaminated. Water will be pumped against the wall to start the freezing process and will be the buffer that will prevent nuclear radiation from getting to ground water reserves and eventually the Pacific Ocean.
