Why Our Generation Needs To Introspect A Little More And Worry A Little Less

Why can’t we think beyond our life? Why does our life suck more than others? Why are our heartbreaks worse than what most people go through? Why are our problems worse than those of third world countries? Why? Have you ever wondered? Our concept of the world Because we feel our tiny little world has only us in it. And the problem here is not the word 'us', but the word 'only'. We think our heartbreaks are worse than a war. The way our love story ended is worse than all the terrible stories we’ve heard or seen. It’s worse than climate change making headlines. It’s even more dreadful than Syrian refugees looking for shelter. 'He walked away, leaving me behind because this is what was destined to happen with me'. The way we express this self pity makes us sound as if we’ve seen millions of years, and seen the world change. And been dealt the absolute worst card. The conversation then moves to what we deserve. And we are all convinced that we deserve better than most people. We are quick to judge if that random classmate from school deserved a package of 10 lakhs per annum or not, or whether that ugly-fat-bitch deserves the good looking husband she recently tied the knot with. They don’t deserve anything - and we'll go to any extent to judge them, to pick on them, and to gossip about them.

The irony

There's way more to the world than us. If you really think about it, we're all very insignificant in the grand scheme of things. We're not what the world is about - it's so much more. There's love, nature, colour, magic, innovation, problems and solutions. So can we step out of that bubble of 'us' and breathe? Because God knows the world is limitless. And we're just a part of it - not all of it.
