AAP MLA Along With Staff Booked For Beating Up NDMC Worker, Denies Charges

Another AAP MLA has courted controversy after allegedly abusing and beating up a worker of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on August 4. Surinder Singh, MLA from Delhi Cantonment Road, has been booked by Delhi Police under sections 332, 353, 367, 186 , 511, 506 , 34 of the IPC and under section 3(10) of the SC/ST Act. Apart from Singh, case has also been booked against his driver and employee at the Tughlaq Road police station. “An NDMC worker asked a vegetable vendor, Rinkoo, not to park his cart near the signal. Suddenly, AAP MLA Surinder Singh intervened and started arguing with the civic workers. A fight ensued, during which the MLA’s driver and employee beat up an NDMC worker. The MLA verbally abused the NDMC worker over his caste and threatened him with dire consequences,” said Vijay Singh, deputy commissioner of police (DCP), New Delhi district to The Indian Express. But Singh has denied the charges levelled against him as well as against his driver and employee. He claimed that the NDMC workers were beating the vegetable vendor, and he only tried to stop them.
