Airport Check-Ins To Become Easier, No More Separate X-Ray For Electronic Devices

In a relief for flyers, there will soon be no need to take out tablets or iPads from hand baggage to be put separately in trays for X-ray at airport security check. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security has decided to stop 'standalone' X-ray of personal electronic devices that do not have detachable batteries.

The regulator on Thursday conveyed its decision to the CISF and asked the paramilitary force to take a call on this issue shortly.

India is among the few countries that require flyers to take out tablets from hand bag and have them X-rayed separately. In the West, airport security mandates that laptops - since they have a detachable battery compartment - be taken out but tablets are X-rayed along with other contents of hand bag.
