Fighting Earthquake and Avalanche Indian Army Team Scales Mount Everest After 2 Year Hiatus

After two year hiatus which included last year’s hindrance caused by Nepal earthquake, a team of Indian Army on Thursday scaled the Mount Everest. A team led by Colonel Ranveer Jamwal which included one JCO and five army personnel of other ranks successfully climbed Mount Everest at 6.07 am on Thursday.

Army Chief Dalbir Singh Suhag has congratulated the team for this herculean effort.

The team led by Colonel Jamwal, a reputed climber, was at the base camp of Mount Everest last year when a 7.9 magintude earthquake stuck. Fortunately despite being in the path of the avalanche, members of Indian Army team remained unscathed. Indian Team while putting their campaign at halt, gathered their strength and started helping people in need.

The team helped in rescue operations by providing stretcher bearers, as well as shelter and rations to those in need. As various agencies gradually moved their mountaineers out, the Indian Army team was the last to leave Everest Base Camp.
