Hyderabad Turns Nature-Friendly Plans To Fine People Throwing Garbage

A stricter action was in the offing when roads were being littered in spite of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) providing two dustbins for households in the city. Hence, in a new move, the GHMC has decided to impose fines on whoever litters the road with garbage. The public body will make efficient use of the installed CCTV cameras to glean footage and identify the guilty.

Even after distributing two dustbins to households and deploying vehicles to collect the litter from these houses, the city roads were being littered without any pity.

To this end, 400 Swachh Hyderabad teams have been engaged to clear the garbage off the streets. "Each truck has four labourers to lift the garbage while Swachh units are authorised to engage 20 labourers at Rs. 350 per day to take up sanitation related works," said the GHMC Commissioner, Somesh Kumar.
