Rapes 6-Year-Old student Punished byMP School Teacher For Not Doing Homework

A 6-year-old girl was raped by her school teacher in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh after he punished her for not doing her homework on Wednesday, March 23. The survivor was admitted to district hospital the next day, and was discharged on Saturday. The incident took place at Kursa village, which is situated about 80 km from the district headquarters. The Class II student, who had failed to complete her homework, was asked by the accused teacher, Satya Narayan Verma, 23, to go kneel down in the school backyard, reported The Times of India. Later, Verma followed the girl to the backyard and raped her. He also threatened her not to tell anyone about the incident. The survivor reached home at 6 pm but just went to her room and slept. She disclosed the entire ordeal when her mother found her bleeding later in the night, said the police. The parents lodged a complaint with Jiyavan police station the next day, and the child was immediately sent to the district hospital for treatment. On March 25, the accused teacher was arrested and sent to jail, police added. Dr Ritu Patel, who was treating the girl at district hospital told The Times of India, "The girl has sustained severe injuries and was kept under observation from March 24. She is now out of danger and was discharged today." This is the sixth such incident in the state within a fortnight when a minor aged below 10 had to be hospitalised after facing sexual violence.
