Many households in India do not get fresh drinking water and people have to walk a long way to get it. The Eliodomestico designed by Italian industrial designer Gabriele Diamanti is a simple device that can convert salt water into fresh drinking water which is run on solar power.

The condensed water collects in a lower basin which can be removed and carried on the head for transportation purposes.

The device is made from easily available materials and is very convenient to maintain. The Eliodomestico can produce 5 litres of fresh water in a day and is estimated to cost $50.
